How many teams that are out of the playoffs today, November 25, 2025, will make the postseason? Of course, 16 teams are sitting outside the playoffs today. What are your team's chances of making the playoffs if they're not in them today?
Let's once again look at the last four (post covid) seasons to get an indication.
Here are the teams each year that made the playoffs, who had not been in playoff position on November 25th of that year.
2024-25 3 teams, Montreal, Ottawa, St. Louis
2023-24 4 teams, NY Islanders, Carolina, Nashville, Edmonton
2022-23 3 teams, Florida, NY Rangers, Minnesota
2021-22 3 teams, Boston, Los Angeles, Nashville
Mathematically, if you're not in the playoff picture today, you have a 20% chance to make it.
